AMP New Zealand Office Trust intends to spend an estimated $3 million strengthening the former Central Police station buildings in Wellington.

An assessment found the buildings did not meet earthquake standards, or less than 33% of the New Build Standard.

The Trust says the seismic work, will lift the standard to 80%.

The former Central Police Station, built in 1917, is on either side of the Vodafone on the Quay tower on Lambton Quay. It has five office and five retail clients generating total annual rental of $600,000.
