Power is back on, except to a handful of homes, in the Wellington region.
Wellington Electricity said the widespread outage affected 1400 customers about 4pm today.
The company's website said six of its customers in Pukerua Bay, Keneperu and Plimmerton were still affected but that power should be back on by 9pm.
