Four fire crews have been fighting a large house fire in Tokoroa.
They were called shortly after eight this evening to a single story house on Waitangi Place in the town.
Shift manager Jaron Phillips said the house was fully ablaze when crews arrived and nobody was home.
He said the fire had been contained but efforts were still being made to cool down a 9kg gas cylinder inside.
Investigators would be looking into what caused the fire.
