The company that sold a car seat to a woman who's nine-month old baby fell out of the restraint head first, says the product has been removed from the market while it is investigated.

The 1st Care Deluxe three-in-one child car seat with a booster was sold by the Top Deal Store in Glenfield, Auckland.

One of the owners of the store, Kristen Yu, said she was contacted late last week by Taupo woman Vanessa Cobb who told her about the baby flying out of the seat.

The seat is made in China and has always been a strong seller, but is now being recalled as a safety precaution, she said.
