Refund for Christchurch gondola passengers

Passengers who were on the Christchurch gondola when it broke down yesterday have been given their money back.

The company that runs the gondola, Welcome Aboard, said it stopped working just after midday, possibly because of a faulty grip.

It said the gondola was restarted two hours later, but not before 20 customers had to be evacuated.

The company's spokesperson, Michael Esposito, said it had apologised, and customers had been given their money back and received free cold drinks and coffee.
