Southland scorcher may melt tarseal

7:55 am on 4 February 2016

Motorists in Southland are being warned that high temperatures expected in the region could cause melting tarseal on some roads.

Southland experienced its hottest day of the summer so far yesterday, with a high of 31.2 degrees, recorded at Invercargill Airport.

A transport warning issued this morning advises motorists that tarseal may 'bleed' meaning they need to take extra care.
