Police are looking for two men after a gun was fired during the robbery of a Christchurch bar.
Staff and patrons at the Phoenix Bar were confronted about 10pm yesterday by the men, one armed with a firearm and the other with a screwdriver.
Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Cottam said they forced the duty manager to open a safe, removing a small amount of cash, before leaving in a stolen car.
Mr Cottam said it was of huge concern that the firearm was discharged during the robbery, putting innocent lives at risk.
No-one was physically injured but it was extremely traumatic for the staff and patrons.
