The president of Singapore, Tony Tan, is in New Zealand for a state visit.
Next month marks 50 years of New Zealand and Singapore's diplomatic relationship.
It will also be 50 years since Singapore gained independence.
Dr Tan attended a welcome ceremony at Government House this morning before visiting Pukeahu National War Memorial.
He will lay a wreath at the CTV building site in Christchurch tomorrow afternoon, before flying out on Friday.
