Police have charged a man in relation to an assault outside a South Auckland fast food shop that has left a man in a serious condition in hospital.
An 18-year-old man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with reckless disregard.
George Siaosi was knocked down with a single punch outside the Denny's shop in Lakewood Court in Manukau two weeks ago. He remains in hospital where his condition is stable.
The 36-year-old youth worker's family and friends joined the police in a public appeal for information.
At the time he was beaten, Detective Inspector Gary Lendrum said similar fights happened every weekend in Auckland.
