Police in Nelson are investigating the assault of a man found near the central city.
They said the 51-year-old was found by members of the public near the Trafalgar Centre yesterday afternoon, and it is believed he was assaulted at a property in a nearby neighbourhood.
Officers are examing that property.
The man's injuries were initially thought to be serious, but he was treated and discharged from Nelson Hospital last night.
