An armed man who went on the run in central Hawke's Bay today has been caught and arrested by the Armed Offenders Squad.
The police say the 57-year-old man had pointed a firearm at another person before going on the run.
They said he had two firearms and was caught just after midday.
The Police Negotiating Team was also deployed, and a section of State Highway Two between Waipukurau and Takapau was cordoned off.
