A woman who escaped a house fire in Christchurch yesterday remains in a serious condition in a specialist burns unit.
Police said two people were in the Linwood home when it caught fire yesterday afternoon.
A scene examination this morning indicated the fire was contained within one room of the house.
Police said a woman in her 20s had since been discharged from hospital but the other woman, who is in her late 30s, had been transferred to a specialist burns unit in Auckland.
She remains in a critical condition.
The police are not looking for anyone in relation to the fire.
