We’re proud to present the new video from Dutch musician The Psychedelic Birthday Party aka Kevyn van der Linden. ‘Till I Meet You Again’ is directed by Christchurch filmmaker Martin Sagadin who’s worked with the likes of Aldous Harding, Marlon Williams and Nadia Reid.
Kevin van der Linden aka The Psychedelic Birthday Party creates dark pop inspired by 90s nostalgia and“self-destructive romanticism”.
He released his debut single ‘Bad Blood’ in June last year, and just over a year later he’s just put out his second single ‘Till I Meet You Again’.
The song’s video, shot at Taylor’s Mistake in Christchurch, was directed by New Zealand filmmaker Martin Sagadin.
Kevin “stumbled upon” Martin’s work via Christchurch singer-songwriter Mousey aka Sarena Close. Martin directed the video for Mousey's Silver Scroll-nominated song ‘Extreme Highs’.
At first Kevin was unsure about how the pair would work together from opposite sides of the globe, but it all went smoothly: “We had a few brainstorm sessions via video call,” Kevin says, “It just felt right … Martin professionally and methodically worked through the process of creating and perfectly executing it.”
Martin’s crew included DOP Kirk Pflaum & photographer Ella Waswo, with costume by Steven Junil Park. Together they managed to capture a mesmerising performance from acclaimed dancer Josie Archer.
