New Zealand Rugby has admitted it didn't consider the Black Ferns' Rugby World Cup quarterfinal when it agreed to a fixture against Japan, which will be in direct competition for viewers.
The Black Ferns, playing in their first home world cup campaign, take on Wales in the World Cup quarterfinal in Whangarei at 7.30pm on Saturday night.
NZR knew about the likely quarterfinal fixture about a year ago, and yet they somehow forgot the women would be playing when they scheduled the All Blacks to play Japan at 6.50pm.
It means viewers will have to decide whether to watch a meaningless All Blacks game in Japan, or a knockout, sudden-death Black Ferns' World Cup match.
Rugby commentator Alice Soper spoke to Corin Dann.
