The Prime Minister says the Government is aware of a global shortage of nurses.
Jacinda Ardern told Morning Report there is already a campaign in place to get former nurses back to the profession.
She said there have been pay rises and attempts to attract nurses working overseas.
Ardern says there have also been an increase in the number of nurses on staff which means there are more vacancies.
