A health workers union says burnout is some of the worst it has ever seen, and members are leaving the profession, or heading overseas for better pay.
This comes as almost all District Health Boards have missed an agreed deadline to improve safe staffing levels.
In 2018 the DHBs settled on a collective agreement for Nurses, Midwives and healthcare assistants to ensure there are enough staff on shift. All but one DHB missed the mid-2021 programme cut-off.
