Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi sentenced to prison

From Morning Report, 8:40 am on 7 December 2021

There has been widespread condemnation over the sentencing of ousted Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

She has been found guilty of inciting dissent and breaking Covid-19 rules, in the first of a series of verdicts that could see her jailed for life.

Her sentence has been reduced from four years to two years.

Rights groups have said the sentencing and process was unjust - and a "sham".
