Cricket Players Association on Pakistan tour abandonment

From Morning Report, 7:38 am on 20 September 2021

It was a tour 18 years in the making, but in a matter of minutes what would have been a historic series for cricket in Pakistan got knocked for a six by New Zealand Cricket's decision to abandon the series.

The decision left Pakistan's cricket establishment furious, the international sports media agog, and the New Zealand players themselves relieved as they took a chartered flight out of Islamabad.

NZ Cricket says it took the only possible decision it could in light of what was said to be a credible security threat to the players.

NZ Cricket Players Association chief executive Heath Mills spoke to Susie Ferguson.
