Principals worried fewer people will join school boards after school trip prosecution

From Morning Report, 7:43 am on 5 August 2021

Principals are worried there will be fewer people willing to be on school boards of trustees, after a board was charged with the death of a student who drowned during a school trip.

Yesterday, the Melville High School board of trustees pleaded not guilty to charges relating to the death of a student at Waihi Beach early last year.

The Hamilton school is charged with exposing an individual to risk of harm, under Health and Safety at Work legislation.
