The Queen Charlotte Track in the Marlborough Sounds remains closed after heavy rain caused slips, windfalls and washed away a bridge, leaving some sections impassable.
A Department of Conservation senior ranger, Margot Ferrier, told reporter Samantha Gee the Great Walk is temporarily closed while the damage is assessed, which could take several months.
