Former police officer and Manukau councillor wants more police access to guns

During nearly forty years as police officer in South Auckland, Alf Filipaina never once felt the force needed to be armed.

Now he's changed his mind.

Retired from the police and serving as a Manukau councillor, he says an upsurge in gun violence has convinced him some front line specialists should be armed.

He spoke to Guyon Espiner.
