A health expert is lambasting the Government for its handling of border workers' Covid-19 testing records.
The Government is to make it compulsory for all employers of border workers to use a national register to supply up-to-date info on their staff's routine Covid-19 tests.
While some employers were already using the register, others were keeping their own records.
It comes after health officials were unable to find out when a managed isolation security guard, who has contracted the virus, had had their previous test.
Auckland University Professor of Medicine Des Gorman told reporter Hamish Cardwell it is ridiculous the register is not already mandatory.
