Prince Philip death: Pandemic forces break from tradition for funeral

From Morning Report, 7:23 am on 12 April 2021

Funeral preparations are well underway for Prince Philip. The royal funeral will be held at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle on Saturday 17 April.

However, Covid-19 restrictions in England mean Prince Philip's funeral will not follow royal tradition.

Only 30 people can attend the service and his body will lie at rest in the private chapel, not in state as is usual when a royal family member dies.

Prince Andrew spoke to media about a recent conversation he had with his father outside Windsor Chapel after a service.

London correspondent Vincent McAvinney spoke to Susie Ferguson.
