Likely NZ woman accused of being in Islamic State will come here

It looks increasingly likely the New Zealand woman accused of being an Islamic State terrorist will end up back here with her two children, as negotiations continue about their fate.

The 25-year-old and her children are being held in a deportation centre in Turkey after trying to illegally cross the border from Syria.

RNZ has been told the message from New Zealand officials to their Turkish counterparts has been - 'we'll come and pick her up, just give us a bit more time because of Covid-19'.

RNZ political editor Jane Patterson spoke to Susie Ferguson.
