NZMA chair says cannabis stance not view of all members

The Medical Association did not consult with its members before announcing its opposition to the cannabis referendum.

Its chair, Dr Kate Baddock, says the anti legalisation stance is the view of the board and the wider organisation, and not necessarily that of all members.

Doctors RNZ has talked to say the NZMA is misrepresenting its members, and senior members of the association want a rapid survey sent out to determine a true position on the referendum.

Dr Baddock told our cannabis referendum reporter Ben Strang that won't happen, and explained why.
