The British Metropolitan Police Chief, Cressida Dick, has remembered New Zealand born Matiu Ratana as an extraordinary policeman.
During a wreath laying ceremony at Police Memorial day she acknowledged his service as a proud policeman and sportsman.
Officials including the Mayor of London attended the service to remember all British officers who have died on duty. Sargeant Ratana was shot and killed on Friday by a handcuffed suspect who was in custody.
