The head of a leading hospital in Wuhan the epicentre of the Covid-19 virus, has died of the disease, according to Chinese state television.
He's the second prominent Chinese doctor to have succumbed to the pathogen.
Health officials in China have published the first details of nearly 45,000 cases of Covid-19, in the biggest study since the outbreak began.
They found that more than 80 percent of the cases of the virus have been mild.
The sick and elderly are the most at risk, those over 80 years old had a fatality rate as high as 14.8 percent and medical staff are also at higher risk of infection and death.
Men are more likely to die than women and the overall death rate is 2.3 percent.
