Bullying whistleblower put on notice by police

From Morning Report, 7:26 am on 23 October 2019

A former police officer who blew the whistle on bullying to RNZ has been put on notice by the police's top legal advisor for breaching the terms of the settlement reached when he quit the force. John Woodward's lawyer received a letter of complaint yesterday -- less than five hours after Commissioner Mike Bush announced he'd ordered an independent review into complaints of police bullying. He told RNZ's police reporter Ben Strang the email from police principal legal advisor Cathryn Curran-Tietjens said police were getting legal advice because the settlement required him to say nothing negative about the police and that by talking to RNZ he had breached the settlement terms.
