Billion trees on track, despite worker shortage - Shane Jones

Forestry and Regional Economic Minister, Shane Jones is adamant the Billion Trees programme is on track despite worker shortages.

Forestry contractors are pushing to make it easier to bring in overseas workers, which the Minister is reluctantly now looking at.

But contractors warn if something isn't done soon, the government's goal to plant one billion trees by 2028 could be on the chopping block. RNZ political reporter Charlie Dreaver has the story.
