'Right decision' for NZ troops to leave Iraq - Gillespie

From Morning Report, 8:23 am on 11 June 2019

The Prime Minister says New Zealand has made an enormous contribution in Iraq but it's time to leave.

There are up to 95 troops at Camp Taji training Iraqi soldiers and the government plans for them all to return home by mid next year.

Politically the move seems popular, with general support from both the National Party and the Greens.

Alexander Gillespie is Professor of International Law at Waikato University.

He tells Corin Dann it's the right decision to leave.
