Small gains in Māori health outcomes after decades - doctor

From Morning Report, 6:14 am on 16 October 2018

A Māori doctor says despite decades of work to improve health outcomes for their people - only small gains have been made. David Tipene Leach was at Tūrangawaewae Marae in Ngāruawāhia yesterday for the start of the Waitangi Tribunal's inquiry into Māori health. Claimants are arguing for mana motuhake, or control, over Māori health services. Dr Tipene Leach told Te Manu Korihi reporter John Boynton he was seeing many very familiar faces at the hearing.
