Whanganui schools struggling for enrolments
Whanganui school principals fear school closures will happen unless they start planning for the future. Last year, two of the city's primary schools were only a quarter full, and two of the secondary schools were half-empty. The city has enjoyed a slight increase in student numbers in the past two years, but Charles Oliver from Whanganui Intermediate told RNZ education correspondent, John Gerritsen, the overall trend is for a falling school-age population.
