Ardern takes first step on world stage at APEC

From Morning Report, 7:10 am on 9 November 2017

The Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, is on the world stage for the first time this weekend, when she joins leaders in the Asia-Pacific region to discuss trade and security. Ms Ardern leaves for APEC in Vietnam this morning, before heading to the East Asia Summit in the Philippines. Her most pressing issue will be the Trans-Pacific Partnership, and whether she can get concessions before a deal without the United States is struck. Overnight Canada has joined New Zealand and other countries seeking changes saying it won't be rushed into a revived TPP deal.
