It was revealed yesterday Housing New Zealand have sent an eviction letter to the Morris family, who live in a state home in Mangere.
It came after the grandmother in the family had died. The family has two blind children.
Labour's housing spokesperson Phil Twyford says under a Labour government, Housing New Zealand would change back to having a purpose of pastoral care and a single job as a Ministry-run public service, not a Crown agency.
"We're going to run Housing New Zealand as a public service, the dividends - any surpluses will be used to build more state houses."
