Tonight we start a new series, looking at words and how we use them, especially in our own, unique way, in 'New Zild' English. We look at how New Zealand English is changing and cover all the quirky things that linguists observe about the words we say and how we say them.  Jennifer Hay is Professor of Linguistics at the University of Canterbury, director of the New Zealand Institute of Language, Brain and Behaviour, and recent recipient of a Rutherford Discovery Fellowship. Her specialty is New Zealand pronunciation
