Immigration Minister signals possible fast-track for migrant nurses

The new Immigration Minister has signalled he is open to putting migrant nurses on the fast-track to residency - but only if the government's current approach doesn't work.

The government's new two-track system has been attacked from all sides - after nurses were placed on the second tier. It means they have to work in New Zealand for two years before being eligible to apply for residence.

Doctors, on the other hand, can effectively apply right away.
