Hundreds of Christchurch households lose bins over contaminated recycling

From Checkpoint, 5:53 pm on 3 May 2021

The recycling report card for more than 650 Christchurch households could be classed as 'absolute rubbish'.

In the last nine months the council has been forced to confiscate 664 yellow recycle bins because of slap happy habits leading to contamination - meaning rubbish has to be dumped rather than recycled.

And it is costly. Christchurch Council resource recovery manager, Ross Trotter says if you've had your bin taken - you have let things get pretty bad.
