NSW getting on top of outbreak

From Checkpoint, 5:27 pm on 23 December 2020

Australia's response to its latest covid outbreak should give Kiwis confidence we're in the best possible position for a travel bubble - according to a top epidemiologist. New South Wales has today recorded another 8 covid cases linked to its Sydney outbreak - where 250 thousand northern beaches residents have been confined to their homes since Saturday evening. That's after there were 30 new cases on Sunday. Officials announced today that some restrictions will remain in place for Christmas - but overall they are pleased with the huge demand for testing across the state. Tony Blakely is an epidemiologist with the University of Melbourne - he told me the case numbers in New South Wales are trending in the right direction.
