Teens talk on climate concerns and their legal move at the UN

A group of teenagers from 12 countries around the world including the Pacific, have signed a legal complaint to the UN Committee on the rights of the Child protesting the lack of government action on the climate crisis.

The United Nations Childrens' Fund hosted the adolescents in a media press conference in New York this week to speak of their concerns and answer questions.

The 16 child petitioners alleges that under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Committee should order Member States to act to protect all children from the devastating impacts of climate change.

Although UNICEF supports their complaint, the agency is not a party to it and will not participate in the Committee's decision.

The speakers including Greta Thunberg and Alexandria Villaseñor, introduce themselves and this segment of the press conference begins with a 17 year old boy from Palau.
