11:31 am on 21 June 2018

Four food and beverage companies from around the region will show their wares at a major industry trade fair in Auckland next week.

Among those exhibiting are PNG's Namalu Coffee, Samoa's Savai'i Popo coconut cream, Tahiti's Noni Energy juice and Tonga's Tupuanga Coffee, which is building back after cyclone Gita.

Joe Fuavao of Pacific Trade Invest New Zealand says it's a chance for restaurants, cafes and distributors to discover new products from the Pacific.

He said the exposure is also a chance to expand markets and grow business.

"There are some products we feel that have a real unique selling proposition such as the Noni Energy and those have a space in the market which I think that New Zealand buyers don't have at the moment," said Joe Fuavao.

So it could take time to build that brand but there are some products that the Pacific offers that are quite unique that could do quite well in the New Zealand market."

The Fine Food New Zealand Show starts on Sunday.
