In Vanuatu the President of the Malvatumauri National Council of Chiefs, Chief Seni Mao Tirsupe has advised the Opposition against lodging more votes of no confidence in the Government.

He said it was not the answer to resolving issues in parliament.

The chief said it is disrespectul of the Opposition to lodge a motion of no confidence after the Head of State, Moses Obed Tallis, appealed to the parliament for political stability.

He told the Vanuatu Daily Post while he understands MPs' constitutonal right to move their motion, they should have first analysed the content of the president's message before making their move.

Under the Constitution all members of parliament are 'sons and daughters' of the Malvatumauri National Council of Chiefs which gives Chief Tirsupe the right to advise the Opposition.
