Solomon Islands and the United Arab Emirates have signed an agreement paving the way for their citizens to visit each other's country without a visa.
The Solomons Islands Foreign Minister George Tozaka has been in Dubai where he signed a memorandum of understanding on visa free access with the UAE's Minister of State and International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy.
Mr Tozaka said the visa waiver could promote investment by the UAE in Solomon Islands.
He said it also encouraged people to people connections and helped increase the value of the Solomon Islands passport internationally.
A government statement said the Solomon Islands is "now well positioned to reap the benefits of new initiatives through the enhancement of its relations and cooperation with the Gulf oil rich country."
