To alleviate Saipan's dearth of hotel rooms, a Chinese company wants a 400-foot luxury cruise ship to serve as hotel or 'floatel.'

The M/V China Star could accommodate tourists once permanently anchored at Saipan's Charlie Dock.

Aside from the floatel the company also envisions opening a restaurant to cater to both tourists and locals alike.

Charlie Dock is currently used to accommodate military ships and cruise ships, but only for short durations.
