Olo told the Samoa Observer recent increases in immigration related fees, such as passport costs and visitor permits, are clear signs the government needs revenue.

Earlier this month the finance minister Sili Epa Tuioti justified the increases saying any funds raised would go towards Samoa's development.

He said the increases were to bring the fees in line with the costs of the services.

And the minister said government had to find funds to provide the services the people are asking for, like fixing roads, and a stable water supply.

He said this money had to come from somewhere.
