Pasifika youth are the only group of New Zealand young people whose court appearances have decreased in the last year.
Figures from the Ministry of Justice show a 10 percent decrease for the year ended June 2017 compared to 2016.
This compares to an overall increase of 5 percent among young people aged 10 to 16 years.
Court appearances by Pakeha youth have increased by 2 percent compared to a 7 percent increase for Maori.
The increase bucks the overall trend for youth court appearances which has decreased by 40 percent since June 2012.
