Sport: Jets and PNG Hunters to resume rivalry

1:00 pm on 28 May 2016

The Ipswich Jets host the Papua New Guinea Hunters tomorrow with both teams looking to return to winning ways.

The Hunters slipped to third in the Queensland Cup standings after a 27-20 defeat by the Central Queensland Capras last weekend.

Ipswich have lost three straight and won only three of eleven matches this season.

The Jets defeated the Hunters in last year's preliminary final before going on to win the competition.

Co-coach Shane Walker said everyone wants to knock them off now and he expects the Hunters will be no different.

"By-product of success is every team that comes to play you each week is at the top of their game...you look at their previous weeks and you can identify so many vulnerabilities in the way that they play but when they come to play the Jets they bring their 'A game' and that's just part and parcel of being the defending premiers."

Shane Walker said games between the Jets and Hunters are always hard fought affairs between two teams who play a similar brand of football.
