Mr O'Neill says since 2000 the doors have been opened to illegal migrants because systems are weak and manned by people who are compromised.

The Post Courier reports him saying illegal migrants have been conducting businesses illegally in sectors that are reserved for PNG citizens.

An inter-government team has reportedly been established to visit all provinces and check on illegal migrants conducting business and foreigners conducting businesses reserved for the nationals.

The prime minister indicates the team could have the powers to take action against those who not following immigration law.
