Sport: Samoa hopeful Super Rugby matches not a one-off

12:22 pm on 17 February 2016

The Samoa Rugby Union hopes tomorrow's pre-season clash against the Melbourne Rebels will be the start of a long-term partnership.

Samoa A take on the Super Rugby team in Melbourne, and are using the match as preparation for next months Pacific Rugby Challenge in Suva, which will feature A teams from Tonga, Fiji and Japan.

A Samoan team played the Western Force two years ago in a similar clash, going down 54-12 in Perth.

SRU Chief Executive Officer Faleomavaega Vincent Fepuleai said playing a Super Rugby team doesn't come around every day and hopefully Samoa can reciprocate and host the Rebels in the future.
