Ex-top cop in CNMI guilty of seven more charges

The former Northern Marianas Department of Public Safety deputy commissioner has been found guilty of seven more corruption charges for his role in shielding of then-Attorney General Edward Buckingham from being served with penal summons in 2012.

Superior Court Associate Judge David Wiseman found Ambrosio Ogumoro guilty of five counts of misconduct in public office, one count of obstructing Justice: Interference with a law enforcement officer or witness, and one count of criminal coercion.

Dismissed were charges of conspiracy to commit obstructing justice, interference with a law enforcement officer or witness, and misconduct in public office.

The 57 year-old will be sentenced on 23 March.
