A bill to set up an advisory commission to look at lifting the salaries of the Northern Marianas political leaders has been passed by the Senate.

The Senate says it is time to review the salaries for elected officials.

The last time salaries were increased for CNMI politicians was more than 24 years ago when the wages of legislators went to US$39,000, the governor to US$70,000, and the lieutenant governor to US$60,000.
